Western-Made Middle Eastern Chaos
Over the past few days, we have witnessed escalating crossfire between Israel and Iran. It began with Israel’s unprovoked attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, killing officials, scientists, and civilians.
This aggression blatantly violates Article 56 of the 1977 Protocol to the Geneva Conventions, which explicitly states that nuclear power plants “shall not be made the object of attack, even where these objects are military objectives, if such an attack may cause the release of dangerous forces and consequent severe losses among the civilian population.”
Even the UN nuclear watchdog chief, Rafael Grossi, condemned the strikes, declaring that nuclear facilities “must never be attacked” and urging restraint to prevent further escalation. He warned that such actions risk “grave consequences for the people of Iran, the region, and beyond.”
Yet, international law has been rendered meaningless — especially over the past two years, as Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians have gone unchecked. Neither the Geneva Conventions nor global warnings seem to matter.
